strong>Hyperconverged clusters not only reduce hardware costs because they combine storage and virtual machines in one system. They also simplify the moving of the individual VMs to the respective other cluster node, since the mirrored data no longer has to be migrated for this.
With the SvSAN software from StorMagic, this concept can be implemented easily and with high performance. It can be installed in all common virtualization environments such as VMware, Hyper-V and Linux KVM.
EUROstor offers complete solutions for this, for example based on VMware. The hard disks or SSDs are managed via a RAID controller, and in the case of spinning disks instead of SSDs, a write and read cache can also be added.
As an alternative to the Standard Edition of SvSAN, there is also a Advanced Edition, which in addition to its own read-ahead and write-back caching also supports so-called "data pinning", in which frequently read data (such as for booting virtual machines) is kept in memory.
While virtualization clusters usually require at least three nodes to form a quorum in the event of a failure, Stormagic's SvSAN software can also be implemented with just two nodes. The volumes of the nodes are replicated synchronously to the other side. Any other computer takes over the function of the witness server to avoid split-brain situations.
StorMagic SvSAN is also available as small, compact systems for small data centers and edge computing.
