Product information

For many years, DSS from Open-E has stood for high-performance and reliable storage software in the unified storage environment, on which EUROstor bases its ES-8700 systems.
With the JovianDSS version, there is also a variant based on the ZFS file system. The main advantages of this file system: it is self-healing, thus avoiding inconsistencies and corrupt files, and above all it offers the possibility to create very space-saving and practically unlimited snapshots without performance losses. The latter is possible because the file system links to the old data are preserved.
JovianDSS offers iSCSI and Fibre Channel as well as NFS and SMB (CIFS) connection of clients.
JovianDSS is therefore recommended in all cases where, on the one hand, high data security is required and, on the other hand, large capacities have to be managed with deduplication, thin provisioning and similar techniques of optimal storage management.
Systems can also be configured as shared or mirrored storage clusters and metro clusters with JovianDSS.
Some models have been certified by Open-E as a complete solution. The other models differ only in configuration.
ZFS storage servers with the Open-E JovianDSS software can be additionally secured by asynchronously backing up the data to another system at any remote location ("OODP", On- & Off-Site Data Protection).
In an emergency, this system can then be activated and the individual volumes are immediately accessible again via the network.
All that is needed is another Open-E JovianDSS system. Since this system only receives snapshots from the source, but is not accessible from outside except in an emergency, it also protects against ransomware attacks. In the event of an emergency, a snapshot is then activated in time before the attack, the original source system can be completely deleted and the data restored. The data from the OODP server is also available during this time.
These systems are also available with NVMe (U.2) to the hard disks.
