Qumulo Scale Anywhere - Overview
- Scale-out storage cluster with single namespace across all nodes up to the exabyte range
- Minimum: 4 nodes, also mixed configuration of different (certified) nodes and storage capacities
- Access via: SMB v2/v3, NFS v3/v4.1, S3, HTTP and FTP (with cross-protocol permissions for NFS and SMB)
- Network connection up to 100 GbE with floating IP addresses (no node binding for the clients)
- Fail-safe thanks to erasure coding across all nodes
- Asynchronous replication possible, even one-to-many, with a time delay of a few seconds
- Intelligent read cache on SSDs (on average 96% of data is read from there)
- Metadata on SSDs avoids time-consuming "treewalks"
- Copying data to and from S3 cloud storage
- Snapshots, also immutable for ransomware protection
- Real-time data analysis and performance monitoring
- All-inclusive subscription license
- Support directly from the manufacturer, without "first level"
- Software updates on the fly in seconds

Product information
Qumulo is a US software manufacturer that has been on the market for 11 years and specializes in scalable storage systems that are also suitable for large data centers with many petabytes of data and hundreds of clients. Each node not only increases capacity, but also performance and access bandwidth.
All nodes form a shared workspace. As the clients do not access via a dedicated node, but via a floating IP, even the downtime of a single node does not lead to an interruption in data transfer.
An intuitive management interface with differentiated monitoring allows performance and capacity utilization to be monitored down to the individual volumes.
These systems can therefore be used as central storage for all applications from file servers, AI applications, video surveillance and editing through to archiving and backup (including protection against ram-somware attacks thanks to immutable snapshots).
These clusters achieve particularly high data throughput, even at high capacity, thanks to an intelligent combination of HDDs and SSDs. The NVMe SSDs store both metadata and predictive read cache. The data is then combined in containers and written to the HDDs. In this way, largely sequential writing to the HDDs is achieved - with correspondingly high performance.
It would therefore not be worth installing the clusters on pure SSD server systems.
