The EUROstor ES-8700JCLF Metro-Cluster over Fibre Channel: Highest data integrity and availability across site boundaries!

Our Open-E JovianDSS clusters based on the EUROstor ES-8700 servers are known for their exceptional data integrity thanks to the Open-E JovianDSS ZFS file system. Until now, however, a shared storage solution was tied to one location. This changes with our latest EUROstor Metro-Cluster over Fibre Channel version. This removes the restriction and enables the distribution of hard disks via Fibre Channel to two locations, which are then mirrored in pairs. Even if one complete site fails, data availability remains guaranteed.

The distance between the two sides of the metro cluster is limited only by Fibre Channel and network restrictions, which makes it possible to bridge long-range distances without any problems. Two 1 Gbit network connections for communication between the cluster nodes and two Fibre Channel connections linking both nodes to the JBODs opposite each other are sufficient as cabling between the sites. In this configuration, a single node can be shut down at any time, for example for maintenance work, without affecting disk mirroring.

Our EUROstor ES-8700JCLF Metro Cluster over Fibre Channel supports a variety of connections, including iSCSI, Fibre Channel, NFS and SMB (CIFS). In addition, the data can also be replicated asynchronously to a third location via a network connection with the On- and Off-site Data Protection feature (ODP). On the other hand, only a single ES-8700DSS Open-E JovianDSS system is required.
