Centralized storage solutions offer a number of advantages over decentralized storage structures. They simplify management and allow an efficient distribution of available storage resources.
However, it usually becomes more difficult when other resources, such as bandwidth, controller processing power, etc. come into play: In this case, the backup often slows down the database and high load on one client is at the expense of the others.
AGILESTORAGE systems offer the possibility to make large amounts of data available redundantly to many clients and applications, both as file servers and via block devices. In contrast to many other systems, not only storage capacities can be provided specifically, but also the performance for the individual applications can be controlled precisely (Quality of Service, QoS).
The WASP Center software installed on these systems enables the simple GUI-supported management of all individual systems centrally and across locations. The QoS parameters such as latency, IOPS, bandwidth and capacity of the virtual storage machines (VSM) can also be defined.
Permanent resource monitoring helps to detect bottlenecks in time. Performance can then be optimized by adjusting the parameters, expanding the hardware or moving the affected VMS to another system. The backup of the VSM by replication to one or more additional locations is also centrally controlled. For this purpose, accounts with differentiated access rights can be set up. The system protects the data with a self-healing file system, which also allows practically unlimited snapshots.
EUROstor has now entered into a partnership with AGILESTORAGE to be able to use exactly these advantages in their customer-specific solutions.
