FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Scale-out and other storage clusters at the CeBIT fair EUROstor in exhibition hall 2, stand A47, together with its software partner Compuverde AB Filderstadt, 13 March 2017 Contrary to the classical storage expansion by JBODs, scale-out storage clusters do not only provide increased capacity with every additional cluster node. At the same time, performance and bandwidth to the clients are enhanced with every additional node. Most notably, however, additional nodes can be added during the ongoing operations, without interrupting data availability. EUROstor will present this very solution together with the Swedish software partner Compuverde at this year’s CeBIT fair. For interested persons who would like to see such a solution live, who have questions or are planning a respective project: at the fair they have the chance to do so. An ES-7000vNAS cluster with three nodes – the minimum number for this solution - will be on display together with internal PCIe SSDs operating as cache and Tier0. Across all nodes of such a cluster a common file system will be established in which the releases as well as iSCSI and object volumes can be created. Via Erasure Coding the data are distributed to the nodes in a redundant manner while a separate back-end network provides for the communication between the nodes. An essential characteristic of the system is that there are no specific management nodes which might turn out to become bottleneck or failure risks. Every individual node (and, depending upon redundancy, several nodes) can be re-booted, exchanged or updated without interrupting the cluster. The clusters can be expanded to hundreds of nodes, by Tiering across node types of different velocity, as a metro cluster across fire protection areas or as a hybrid cluster, in which common data can be accessed across different locations. In addition to this solution EUROstor will present other storage clusters, for example ZFS-based metro clusters with Open-E JovianDSS and – the other extreme – ZFS Shared Storage Cluster-in-a-Box. "Due to our close partnerships with producers of storage software, for example Compuverde or Open-E, we are in a position to offer flexible and tailor-made solutions for our customers", says Franz Bochtler, general manager of EUROstor. "Thus we are able to promptly certify optimum combinations of the most up-to-date and high-capacity hardware and software in close coordination, with the result of optimum performance and reliability.” About EUROstor: EUROstor has been a manufacturer of storage systems for more than 12 years. At the beginning the company produced RAID systems; today server-based systems, operating as flexible storage servers are the main constituents of our product portfolio – perfectly custom-tailored in accordance with the respective requirements. The solutions range from small file servers and CCTV storage to highly-available storage clusters, scale-out clusters and cloud solutions. EUROstor’s head office is located in Filderstadt near Stuttgart, Germany and the company is marketing its products to end customers throughout Europe, medium-sized companies, universities, research institutes and data centers.
