Deduplicating disk-backup solutions often have a performance issue: The deduplication process is time consuming and makes access to the system slow.
Not with ExaGrid. Here backups are written to a "landing zone" – with full performance. Only afterwards data will be compressed and deduplicated into a "retention space", the real backup archive.
This not only reduces the backup window, but, opposed to other solutions, allows for a full-speed recovery of recent backups, especially when after a crash every minute counts.
ExaGrid systems are highly scalable up to 25 nodes. These can be added as needed on-the-fly into the running system.
Also different models can be mixed, so that older systems need not to be sorted out. Data deduplication is then not only local but works throughout the complete grid.
