Product information

ES-8700 JDSS cluster with ZFS file system offer extremely high data availability. Being a shared storage solution this used to be restricted to one location only. With the new metro cluster version this restriction does not exist any longer: the disks are located at two sites and then mirrored across the locations. Thus also the complete failure of one site does not affect data availability at all.
The distance between the two sites of the metro cluster are only limited by Fibre Channel and network restrictions. As cable connection only two 1 Gbit Ethernet lines are required for the communication between the cluster nodes and two 16 Gbit Fibre Channel lines to connect the nodes to the JBOD on the other side. In this configuration any single node can be shut down, e.g. for maintenance reasons, without breaking the disk mirrors.
The Cluster supports iSCSI as well as NFS and CIFS access.
Additionally the data can be asynchronously replicated to a second site, over the network. On the other side only a single ES-8700 Jovian DSS system is needed.
