Supplier of products for the office sector seeks a high-performing and effortless storage solution with synchronous snapshots.
The Mission
Office Partner is a provider of equipment for the office sector, from PCs and servers, printers and monitors to connectivity products.
The company first contacted EUROstor in 2010 asking them to transfer some of their local hard disks into a central redundant storage. At that time large parts of their infrastructure were virtualized but this project could not be implemented with a central storage.
Next, in 2013 the company contacted EUROstor to check whether they could find a suitable solution for centralization of their storage servers. EUROstor solved this problem by means of two High Availability ES-8700 systems and it turned out to be so advantageous that it is still in use by the company.
However, soon not all server systems could be transferred to a central storage, thus EUROstor suggested Open-E JovianDSS with the ES-8700 systems as the best solution for all their storage issues.
Solution
In general, Office Partner has already been successfully using the proven Open-E DSS V7. But systems that were not transferred in 2013 to the Open-E DSS-V7 had especially high demands regarding IO and latency.
In addition, a snapshot was to be created every 60 seconds without any loss of performance 
and they should also be retained for up to two weeks. The respective snapshot was supposed to be deleted after their demanded deadlines without additional effort. Plus, the systems should work synchronously in two fire compartments.
Due to their previous positive experiences with Open-E DSS V7 EUROstor offered them the Open-E JovianDSS ZFS-based solution as a Shared Storage Metro Cluster with two nodes in an active-passive mode. The solution was configured like a local cluster with mirrored JBODs, with Fibre Channel instead of SAS to the JBODs for better effectiveness on long distances.
That turned out to be a tailor-made offer for Office Partner as with ES-8700 JDSS cluster on ZFS file system they achieved extremely high data availability.
