ES-8724DSS iSCSI Cluster: Certified by Open-E

Open-E certifies iSCSI active/active cluster solution of gold partner EUROstor.

EUROstor’s ES-8700 iSCSI/NAS RAIDs and storage clusters combine high hardware quality with the performance and flexibility of Open-E DSS V7 software. Storage capacity can be provided to many servers via NAS, iSCSI and, optionally, via fibre channel.

For iSCSI services it is possible to configurate two such systems as a cluster. In this case the two systems will be capable of mutually replicating their data synchronously, thus allowing an automatic transparent failover via a virtual IP address. In case at least two volumes are installed, these may be distributed to the two nodes (active/active cluster), thus considerably enhancing performance even more.

In addition to the qualification of the solution by EUROstor, the certification of the cluster as well as of the individual system by Open-E includes a confirmation by the software producer.

Moreover, the certified system with Intel E5 processors on X9 boards is populated with a LSI MegaRAID SAS 9280-4i4e RAID controller, allowing the use of mirrored SSDs as write and read cache in order to achieve the optimization of I/O performance.

The certified system features 24 hard disks each as well as two dual port 10 gigabit Ethernet cards each per node; thus, apart from four 1 Gbit ports, two 10 Gbit ports per side are available. The connection for replication between the nodes is effected via 2 x 10 Gbit.
