Infortrend SAS/SAS
EonStor DS SAS RAID, 16 disks
Infortrend EonStor DS SAS RAID systems are used as direct attached storage, over a SAS (Serial Attached SCSI) connection. In the server the RAID partitions can be seen like normal SCSI disks - of course with much higher capacity.
The advantage: SAS and SATA disks can be mixed within the same RAID box, in order to offer high performance disk capacity for database applications together with low cost SATA capacity e.g. for data archiving.
The system can be expanded over a SAS port.
The new series based on the faster G7 controller offer nearly twice the i/o performance compared to previous versions.
Some systems optionally offer thin provisioning (cf. datasheet).
