ES-8000 Toploader JBOD

EUROstor ES-8000 Toploader JBODs offer a cost efficient way to store a big amount of disk capacity in a small space. The disks can be insterted into the enclosure from the top - also while the system is up and running. To make this possible, the enclosure can be moved on sliders an drawn out of the cabinet. Up to 102 drives can be inserted in ES-80102. Using 12 TB disks this amounts to over 1.2 PB.
Usually these JBODs will be connected to PCI SAS HBAs, e.g. for use with ZFS filesystem, then the filesystem itself will manage the disks with up to three-fold parity. But also with PCI RAID controllers (e.g. from Areca) these JBODs can be used.
With up to 12 SAS ports (4 x 12 Gbit each), these JBODs are also suitable for use with multiple servers.
The following configurations can be activated:
- all disks on all ports,
- 17 disks on 1 port on each interface module,
- 34 disks on 2 ports each,
- 51 disks on 3 ports each.
ES-8000 Toploader JBODs can also be used as shared storage for a cluster, e.g. with Windows Server Cluster, or as a compact and inexpensive storage expansion for ES-8700 Storage Server.
